A Memorial Service for William J. “Bill” Simunek, age 80, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Dwayne Schroeder officiating. The United States Army will provide military honors. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bill was born August 15, 1944, in Enid, to Joe and Anna (Severin) Simunek, and passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024 in Oklahoma City.
He attended Enid Public Schools and joined the US Army Reserves after high school, serving his country for six years. He married Patsy DeVries January 15, 1966, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Covington, Ok. He worked at Union Equity, which later became ADM Grain, retiring after 43 years. After his retirement, Bill enjoyed working in his shop, where he made all sorts of things. His most recent project was customizing his barbeque grill. He loved cooking, grilling and smoking meat and other culinary delights for his family. Bill and Patsy are long-time members of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder, taught Sunday school and other various roles.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond Simunek, three sisters, Dorothy Willis, Doris Cates, Rosalie Trabalka, and granddaughter, Alicia Simunek. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Simunek, of Enid, two sons, Brian Simunek and wife Mindy, of Lahoma, Brent Simunek and wife Monique, of Yukon, OK, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild coming in March.
Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
