A Mass of Christian Burial for Jewell Junior Whitley will be 10 am Tuesday at the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Kowalski officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jewell was born August 20, 1947 in Nash, OK to Jewell H. and Sylvia Smith Whitley and passed away Saturday morning in St. Mary’s Hospital after a battle of cancer. He grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1965. Jewell joined the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and spent 1 year in Florida then went to Thailand for 1 year. He then did a tour in Vietnam and came back to Columbus, Mississippi to finish his tour of duty and was honorable discharged in 1971. Jewell married Karen Determan on September 18, 1981 in Kingfisher. Jewell was employed at Vance AFB for 39 years as a T-1 Aircraft Mechanic.
Jewell is survived by his wife Karen of the home, four brothers, Jim, Robert, Earl, and Melvin Whitley all of Enid and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by this parents and one brother.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Cancer or M. S. divisions, or Our Daily Bread or St. Joseph Catholic School with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
