Kara Nell Wherritt, age 74, of Enid, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her home in Enid. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born July 31, 1940 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Elvin Coleman and Maxine (Jackson) Coleman. She was raised in Fairview for a short time before the family moved to Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from West High School then worked at various jobs until going to work for Stout Pontiac in Wichita. Later, Kara moved to Oklahoma and worked eight years at Star Tech until her retirement.
Kara fought a brave and courageous fight against cancer. She did so with dignity and strength until the end. She was an avid fisherman, equestrian, and she loved to dance! She played pool and was known as “Eight-ball”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and three infant brothers.
Kara is survived by daughter, Janita Cole-Otwell, of Enid; a son, Charles (Butch) Sigler of Enid; one grandchild, Damon Sunday and his girlfriend, Michelle Winkler, of Tenkiller Lake area; four great-grandchildren; and many other friends who loved her and called her “mom”.
There are no services scheduled, but friends and family may visit Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home to sign the guestbook and watch a memorial video of Kara’s life, from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, Tuesday, July 7, through Thursday, July 9, 2015.
Memorials may be to Blaze’s Tribute Equine Rescue with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
