The funeral service for Leonard L “Bud” Weaver, age 80 will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Ames Baptist Church. Rev Bryan Laramore will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead Cemetery, Homestead, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Bud was born February 10, 1930 in Homestead, OK to Raymond and Clara (Hamilton) Weaver and went to be with his savior, in his home of five generations on August 4, 2010 in Fairview, OK. He was raised in Homestead area and graduated from Homestead High School. He attended Oklahoma A & M for a semester.
He entered the US Army Air Corp in 1948, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in 1952. He married Bessie Hicks, December 1949 in Homestead, OK. He worked for the Railroad after his military service for several years. He then worked in the Aerial Space industry as a Quality Control Inspector for White Sands Missile Range and then he found his real love of driving a truck for over 40 years. He was a member of the Ames Baptist Church, and avid hunter; he loved music and his motorcycle and he loved to camp. He later married Vanita Yokley in 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Weaver of Ames, OK, Janie Frazee of Enid, OK and Jenny Erdman of Oxnard, CA; two sons, Joe Weaver of Enid, OK and Jim Weaver of Ringwood, OK; 8 grandchildren; Joe Allen Weaver, Jr., Stephanie Thomas, Joshua, Zachry, Callie, and Mason Frazee, Jesse Weaver, Julianna Buller; 6 great grandchildren, his companion of many years Vanita Weaver, one brother, Bill Weaver of Kansas; stepchildren, Randall Yokley and Marilyn Johnson; 3 step grandchildren Grant Yokley, Tanner Yokley, and Timothy Johnson and close friend, Dick Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, and one brother.
