Due to covid-19, a private family Celebration of Life for Ruby Rose West, age 86, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Mausoleum of Memorial Park Cemetery. Out of love and safety for the health of our family and friends, Ruby’s family will save our visitation, and hugs for you when a public memorial is held in the future. Friends may visit the funeral home to see Ruby and sign the guestbook on Wednesday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 am through 9:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Ruby was born on March 19, 1934 on a farm in rural Northwest Arkansas to Gordon and Lottie (Smith) Rothrock and passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in Enid.
Ruby became a Christian at the age of 15 and was baptized at Highfill Baptist Church, Highfill, Arkansas. She always believed that we have guardian angels, she loved all angels, flowers and butterflies. She married J.R. Crow on June 15, 1952. They had one daughter Judy and were married for 32 years. She married Kenneth West on December 26, 1992. They were married for 21 years before his death. Ruby worked 53 years for Dr. A.W. Janzen and his son Dr. Dwayne Janzen. She touched the lives of many families during these years. She loved her office family. Through the years she loved playing bridge, bowling and square dancing. She enjoyed knitting afghans and left many for others to enjoy. For years she and Ken maintained a colony of Purple Martins which they and the neighbors enjoyed. Ruby loved sports and followed her grandsons all across the United States from ages 6 through 24 years. At all their baseball games she kept stat books which are cherished still today. The greatest joys of her life were her grandsons Cody and Tyler. And then came the bonus of three beautiful great-granddaughters, Gentry, Cheyenne and Emberly. Ruby shared great memories of her years as a child growing up on a farm in Arkansas. She had six sisters, one brother and ten half brothers and sisters. The family wants to thank all of Ruby’s Facebook friends. She enjoyed all your pictures and visits.
Ruby is survived by one daughter, Judy Fleming and husband Gary; two grandsons, Cody Fleming, Tyler Fleming and wife Britney; three great-granddaughters, Gentry, Cheyenne and Emberly Fleming; three sisters, Vera Garvin and husband Jack; Nellie Doss; and Hazel Taylor and husband Warren; a brother, Richard Rothrock and wife Myrlene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth and seven brothers and six sisters.
Memorial contributions in Ruby’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
