A Celebration of Life for Quinton C. Welty, age 74 years, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jim Edmison will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Quinton was born August 31, 1941 in Enid to Frank Welty and Dorothy (Wiley) Welty. He passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
He attended school in Enid, and following graduation he married Goldie Quillen. He joined the Army and served his country during the Cuban Missle Crisis as a sniper. After he was discharged from the army, he attended barber school and after graduating he opened Quinton’s Barber Shop on Grand Avenue in Enid. Later he moved to Texas to pursue a career in commercial fishing for over 20 years.
Quinton’s passions in life were playing pool, racing cars at Enid Speedway, football, as well as hunting and fishing. He played in many pool tournaments and was known as “Butch the Pool Shark.” He also treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, and especially his dear friend Pamela White. Family and friends were important to Quinton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Welty, and his wife, Goldie Welty.
Quinton is survived by three children, Patricia Welty, of Enid; Steve Welty of Rockport, TX; Quintina (Tina) McDonnel of Enid; adopted children, Wally and Lee Ruth Reynolds; six grandchildren, Shane Welty, Micheal Helton, Craig Welty, Joshua Welty, Robert McDonnel, Stephanie McDonnel; three step-grandchildren, Melissa, Randall and Amy Lalicker; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
All of us will love and miss him dearly until we see him again.
Memorials may be made in Quinton’s name to the National Parkinsons Foundation with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
