Memorial services for Larry Wayne Walls, 71, of Enid will be Friday, June 8, 2012, 1:30 PM at The Covenant Life Christian Fellowship Church, 501 S. Cleveland, with Pastor Michael Frisbee officiating. Larry passed away at his residence on June 3, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of The Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Larry was born June 28, 1940 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Joyce Gravatt. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict as an OV-1 Mohawk Pilot. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and several other commendations. Larry was first married to Sherry Daniels in 1960. After forty years of separation, they were reunited in marriage on Oct. 5, 2006. Mr. Walls was employed in many careers as jet mechanic, car mechanic, truck driver, and electrical power trader, but his greatest love was being a pilot. He was a member of the DAV, the OV-`1 Mohawk Association and attended The Covenant Life Christian Fellowship Church. He enjoyed his blog called The Friendly Sky.com. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and gramps.
Survivors include his wife Sherry of the home, five sons, Steven Walls and his wife Natalia of Salem, OR, Toby Merriman and his wife Alecia of Meridian, ID, Jacob Metcalf and his wife Adrienne of Las Vegas, NV, Josh Metcalf of Rusk, TX and Michael Metcalf and his wife Lauren of Hawaii, a daughter, Lettie Barnes and her husband Monty of Enid, two step-sons, Jeff Kelley and his wife Lisa of Edmond, OK and Wade Kelley and his wife Judy of Grapevine, TX, a step-daughter, Vicky Allen and her husband Yancy of Edmond, OK, 27 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a brother Ray Walls of Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.
