A Celebration of Life for Kenneth Walker, Sr., age 88 years, of Waukomis, is 1:30 pm, Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2017. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born June 11, 1928 in Houston, Texas to V. E. Walker and Myrtle Agnes (Fuller) Walker and passed away Friday, March 17, 2017.
Kenneth moved to the Enid area when he was 14 years old, eventually graduating from Enid High School in 1949. He married Betty Jo Taylor on October 21, 1948 and they made their home together in Enid where they raised their four children, Linda, Kenny, Debi and Diana. He owned and operated Ken’s Mobile Homes on south Van Buren until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement he and Betty enjoyed traveling to Port Aransas, TX to go fishing. He and Betty were long time members of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years.
He is preceded in death by father, V.E. Walker and step-mother, Velma Walker; mother Myrtle Shannon and step-father Jack Shannon; brother, Larry Walker and sister, Connie Harris.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jo, of the home in Waukomis; four children; Linda Schroeder and husband Rodney, of Hutchinson, KS; Kenny and Carla Walker, of Waukomis; Debi Yount and husband Kim, of Kansas City, MO; Diana Ritter and husband Don, of Atoka, OK; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Jo Cummings, Jerry Bellar and husband David; two brothers, Donald Walker and wife Wanda; Ronnie Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Kenneth’s name may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Choir with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
