Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Dayle was born August 30, 1927 on a farm between Mayfield and Sweetwater, OK and died peacefully June 12 surrounded by his children.

Dayle joined the Merchant Marines while still in high school to serve in WWII. He was stationed on the Marine Hospital ship Louis A. Milne. They were in Cherbourg and Normandy before coming back to the States, arriving in New York on “V-J Day” in 1945. Dayle celebrated the end of the war in Times Square.

Upon his return home, he met and instantly fell in love with Hazel Conner and they married on February 25, 1946. They made their home in Frederick, Oklahoma where he finished high school. He played on the football team and helped take the Bombers to the state championship. After graduating he and Hazel lived briefly in Vernon, Texas before moving to Enid in 1948 so Dayle could join his father in his automobile business.

He owned and operated Walker Upholstery Shop and the Mobile Home Center before going to work for Champlin Refinery. He later worked for Investors Resources Corporation until his retirement.

Dayle was always adventurous, even obtaining his pilot’s license before he got his driver’s license.

He and Hazel spent many summers at the lake enjoying skiing and fishing with their three sons and daughter. This was when Dayle passed on his love for fishing to his family. Dayle also was an avid hunter. He looked forward to the Fall each year when hunting season would begin and his weekends would be spent at the “family ranch”.

He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, of sixty-six years, one sister and two grandchildren.

He is survived by one sister Philippia Blackburn of Royal Palm Beach, FL., sons Russell Walker (Julia) of Cape Coral, FL, Carroll Walker (Vickie) of Enid, Ron Walker (Ginger) of Edmond and daughter Gina Walker (Rachel Palmer) of Norman, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Dayle leaves behind a lifetime of memories that he shared with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed his mornings spent with his coffee buddies and afternoon card games. He was loved and adored by all and will be missed greatly.
