William Vorderstrasse

October 23, 1912 — March 2, 2010

The funeral for William “Uncle Bill” Vorderstrasse, 97, of Enid, will be 2:00pm on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Enid. The Rev Kenneth Wade will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

William Fred Vorderstrasse was born October 23, 1912 near Stoddard, NE to William and Sena Vorderstrasse. He passed away on March 5, 2010.

After working on his father’s farm, Bill moved to Enid in 1938. He worked for his brother-in-law,

E. H. Holtzen, at Holtzen Construction Company until 1941 when he entered the United States Army and served until 1945. He served in the European Theater as a fuel truck driver for General Pattton. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, the European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Defense Service Ribbon.

Upon the completion of his military service, he returned to Enid and the Holtzen family. He retired from Holtzen Construction in 1982 and spent his retirement fishing, playing cards, and golfing. Uncle Bill spent a lot of time with his many grandnieces and grandnephews. He also enjoyed spending time with his great-grandnieces and great grandnephews. He was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by E.H. and Anna Holtzen’s family and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to St Paul’s Lutheran Church or Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be emailed to the family at ladusauevans@suddenlinkmail.com.
