A Celebration of Life for V. Maurene McNeill Unruh is 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Willow Road Christian Church with Pastor Carrell Still officiating with burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel.
Maurene was born on August 3, 1927 to Oscar and Virgie McNeill. She graduated to Heaven on October 12, 2016.
Maurene was born in the depression and grew up in wartime. She graduated from Enid High School in 1945, and was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. She married Ed Unruh on December 5, 1949. She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother and caring great-grandmother. She lived a very giving and unselfish life, willing to endure the summer heat for endless ball games, opening her home and pantry to family and their friends, staying up until all hours of the night until everyone was home, always going overboard at Christmas, and scolding anyone who bought her a gift. Maurene was a member of Davis Park and Willow Road Christian Churches for the majority of her adult life. Before she was married, she worked at Southwestern Bell, and after the boys were in school, she worked for T. G. & Y. for many years, until the store closed. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Maurene is preceded in death by Ed Unruh, her husband of 47 years. She is survived by her three sons and their families: Jim and Sue Unruh of Enid; Terry and Kim Unruh of Tulsa; Marke Unruh and Fran Dearing of Enid; grandchildren James and Melody Unruh and their children Megan and Eddie, of Manvel, Texas; Thomas Clubb and Erika Unruh and their children Adriana and Bella, of Enid; and Andrea Unruh of Tulsa.
Memorial contributions in Maurene’s name may be made to Willow Road Christian Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral
Home serving as custodian of the funds.
