Leona Unruh

June 30, 1914 — November 4, 2010

Funeral services for Leona Bernice Unruh age 96 of Enid will be 10 am Monday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Bob Crowder officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery, Meno, OK. Arrangements are under the kind direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Leona was born June 30, 1914 in Meno, OK to Ben and Lea Johnson Koehn and passed away November 4, 2010 at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital.

She married her high school sweetheart Harold Unruh in 1934 and he passed away on December 4, 1974. They lived and farmed around Meno until 1950 when they moved to Enid. She was one of 14 children.

She worked as a sales person at Newman’s Department Store and retired after several years.

Leona is survived by two sons Mervyn Dean Unruh and wife Marsha, Merle Unruh, and daughter-in-law Carole Unruh all of Enid, two sisters Alda Reimer of Scottsdale, AZ and Elvera McClure of Hutchinson, KS, four brothers Paul Koehn and wife Fern, Walter Koehn and wife Juanita, Wilbur Koehn and wife Janice, and Larry Koehn and wife Bev all of Newton, KS, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Marlin and Maynard, daughter Marilyn Kay, brothers Elmer and Alvin, sisters Lenora Buller, Malinda Buller, Elizabeth Vogt, Alice Simmons, and Luella Bollig.

Leona enjoyed her families, reading her Bible, cooking and gardening.

Memorials may be made to Hallmark Baptist Missionaries with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
