Funeral services for Bernice L. Thornberry age 88 of Enid will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Cemetery with Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born September 11, 1923 southwest of Cherokee, OK to Tom and Sarah Campbell Boston and passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Golden Oaks Nursing Center. She attended and graduated from Jet High School. She married E.L. “ Slim” Thornberry on May 10, 1947 in Medford, OK and he passed away December 19, 1994.
She worked as a receptionist for Oklahoma Natural Gas for 13 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherokee.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Faro of Canton, TX, a son L.A. “Butch” Thornberry and his wife Sandy of Quinlan, OK, five grandchildren, and a great grandchild, a brother Bob Boston of Enid, three sisters; Maxine Sweatt and Doris Wofford of Enid, Ruth Barnes of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother Bill Boston.
