Leora Thesman

November 3, 1926 — September 29, 2014

Celebration of Life service for Leora Bernice Rempel Thesman, age 87, of Enid will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. Rev Jay Risner and Rev Lynford Becker will officiate. Burial will be in the Enid Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Leora was born November 3, 1926 in Colony, OK to George and Mary (Warkentin) Rempel and died September 29, 2014 in Enid, OK. After spending her first three years in Corn, OK, her family moved to Texas and California before settling in Oklahoma. She attended junior high in Enid before her family moved to North Enid, and she attended all four years of high school at Kremlin High School, graduating with the Class of 1945.

She worked at Vance Air Force Base for a few years, then married Jake Thesman in 1948 and settled on a farm west of Kremlin. Besides raising her three children, she worked at Kress and Coldiron’s and retired after working 18 years in the Garfield County Treasurer’s Office. She has been a member of the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church for 65 years, and especially enjoyed her involvement with the music program and the choir. She has lived at the Golden Oaks Retirement Center since 2007.

She is survived by her three children, Robert (Bob) of Shawnee, KS; Jolita (Jodi) Gossen and husband Roger of Kremlin, OK; Debra (Debbie) Wright and husband Jeff of Riverside, CA; six grandchildren, Caleb Thesman of Olathe, KS, Monica Gossen of Wichita, KS; Alyssa Boyd (Zach) of Tulsa, OK; Drew Gossen (Kristan) of Yukon, OK, Bethany Wright-Kuhns (Marcos) of Portland, OR, and Jordan Wright (Celina) of Fontana, CA and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake and her sisters, Viola Davidson, Mabel Cox and infant sister.

Memorials may be made to Enid Mennonite Brethren Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund. Condolences may be made online and the services may be viewed online at www.ladusauevans.com
