Funeral services for Wilbur L. Taylor will be held Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont with Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangement. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
He was born to Volney and Louise Polwart Taylor on the centennial family farm in Fairmont, OK on September 6, 1925. He passed away to his heavenly home on March 15, 2013.
Wilbur was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, OK, where he sang in the Choir and held a number of offices during his membership which spanned some 80 years. Wilbur sang in a quartet at numerous occasions
On August 14, 1949 he married Imogene Nobis at Zion Lutheran Church. This past August they celebrated 63 years together.
Wilbur worked and retired from the Garfield County District 1 bridge crew after 30 years. However, his love was farming, where he raised wheat, cattle, pigs, and THREE DAUGHTERS.
He also was an avid softball player. In his youth he played on the Fairmont Softball team. He passed that love on to his daughters and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Imogene of Fairmont, daughters, Annette Mason (Kirk) of Ringwood, Nancy Nelson (David) of Carrier, Lorraine Brainard of Enid, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Tom Taylor.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
