Richard Talley

September 27, 1947 — January 15, 2010

The funeral service for Richard “Rick” E Talley, age 62 will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev Wade Burleson will officiate. Burial will be in the Shady Brook Cemetery, Hope, Kansas at 4:00 pm. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Rick was born September 27, 1947 to Lawrence and Inez (Schlesener) Talley at the Sumtner Air Force Base, in Sumter, SC and died Friday, January 15, 2010 at his home. He graduated from Manhattan High School, Manhattan, KS. He attended Phillips University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating with a masters in religious education in 1984. He married Patricia Raasch, October 14, 1978 at the Piedmont Baptist Church, Piedmont, OK. He lived in Enid and worked for an oil company. He then moved to Wichita and worked for Boeing Aircraft in Payroll until entering the seminary. Moved to Ft Worth in 1981 to attend seminary and worked part time for Phillips Petroleum. He worked as an interim administrator at the Wedgwood Baptist Church. Then was manager of Triangle Bowling in Lewisville, TX for several years. He moved to Nacogdoches, TX as a managing partner of a bowling alley. Then returned to Enid to take care of his elderly mother until her death in 2000. He was chaplain of Carter Hospice and was the hospital visitation chaplain at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He had been a professional bowler in his early days and loved to golf and go to movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Beth Talley of Waco, TX and ex wife, Patricia of Ft Worth, TX; one sister, Deanna and husband Dwight Ray of Newton, KS; aunt and uncle Gladys and Ted Meyer of Hope, KS; two nieces; and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be emailed to the family at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
