Funeral services for Mabel Lucille Swiggett age 97, of Lahoma will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Eric Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Lucille was born June 16, 1915, on a farm northwest of Lahoma to Lincoln and Edna Eyer Decker and she passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the St. Mary’s Regional Hospital. She graduated from Lahoma High School in 1933.
Lucille was an outstanding basketball player and was selected to participate on the National U. S. Team. She attended Phillips University and the Enid Business College.
Lucille married Clifford Swiggett in 1938.They were married for 58 years and farmed near Lahoma before moving to Enid in 1970. She worked at Kress Dept. Store, Herzberg Fabric, and Ila's Craft Store in Enid.
She was a member of Lahoma Economy Club for 67 years, the Ladies Aid and is a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Her knitting, crocheting, and sewing rewarded her with various champion ribbons in local and state fairs.
Lucille is survived by her sons, Gary Swiggett and Carolyn of Lahoma, Dale and Cheryl Swiggett of Edmond, and Vernon and Kim of Bedford, TX, three grandsons Robert, Scott, and Darren, five granddaughters Kim, Suzanne, Emily, Heather, Holly, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford and a brother, Merrill Decker.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
