Gene Sutton

Funeral services for Gene Russell Sutton age 71 of Enid will be 10 am Monday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Grayson Lucky officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Gene was born January 18, 1941 in Scottsbluff, NE and passed away early Wednesday morning in Integris Bass Baptist Hospital. He grew up in the Scottsbluff and Torrington, WY area where he graduated from high school in 1959. He attended college in Nebraska where he graduated with an electronic engineer degree. He attended the Presbyterian Church as a child and received his God & country award from the Boy Scouts.

Gene married Judy Ewing on April 20, 1963 in Enid. They made their home in Littleton, Colorado where he was an electronic engineer for Martin Marrietta. He helped develop the Gyro for the Titan missile. He also worked in quality control. He owned and operated Northeastern Dust Control in Sterling, Colorado. They sold the business and moved back to Littleton, where they raised their family. They came to Enid in 2006 due to his health.

Gene was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Littleton Elks Lodge, was a 32 Degree Mason, a member of the Enid Shrine Club where he served as president in 2009.

Gene is survived by his wife Judy of the home, daughter Mindy Yates and husband Steve of Englewood, CO, grandchildren Benjamin and Cody Yates.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John Sutton in 1985.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
