Barbara Stonehocker

January 13, 1955 — May 22, 2024

A Celebration of Life for Barbara Ann Stonehocker, age 69, of Drummond, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday June 1, 2024 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home & Crematory.

Barbara was born January 13, 1955 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Robert and Alice (Wilson) Meeks, and passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Barbara's life was defined by her ability to overcome adversity, her caring nature, her profound love for her family, the beauty of roses. Raised in Vinita, she enjoyed both riding and teaching her horse to square dance on her family’s farm. She also cherished the time spent tending to the cows and chickens with her grandparents. Barbara was quick with a smile, and always putting the needs of others before her own. Her compassionate spirit was felt by all who knew her, and she touched countless lives with her generosity and warmth. She later moved to and graduated high school in Fairview, Oklahoma. She then married David Stonehocker and raised two sons there. As a devoted mother, Barbara's children were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them in every way. In her words, “Those two boys were the one thing I did right.” Whether it come to nursing; working as a cook; or working as a driver, Barbara had the uncanny ability to mentor people and bring out the best in everyone. Barbara believed in treating people like family, listening to, and providing guidance, and making everyone’s day better even after retirement. Many people stayed in contact with her, and were grateful for her guidance, love, and support.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Alice Meeks; brother, Billy Joe Meeks; and sister, Norma Koehn-Brown. She is survived by her sons, Justin Stonehocker and wife, Mandy, of Coweta, OK; Robert Stonehocker, of Drummond; three grandchildren, Caelen Hendrix, of Coweta; Josiah Stonehocker, of Colorado Springs, CO; Prestin Stonehocker, of Coweta; two brothers, Jimmy Wilson, of Mt. Vernon, MO; Bobby Meeks, of Meno, OK; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
