A Memorial Service for Jack Garvin Stewart, is 11:00 am, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jack Garvin Stewart, 90 years old, died at home in Enid on August 14, 2018. Jack was born in Waukomis, Oklahoma on October 10, 1927, to Garvin and Marie Stewart. The family moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas where Jack graduated from Ft. Smith High School a semester early in order to join the Navy in December, 1944 where he served four years in the Pacific. Upon discharge from the Navy, Jack attended Oklahoma A & M (now OSU) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1951. Jack was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity where he made lifelong friendships. After graduation, Jack moved to Hennessey to rejoin his family. There he met Jamae Bullis, whom he married on December 25, 1952. The newlyweds moved to Enid after the birth of their first daughter Jan in 1953. Jack worked for Groendyke Transport from 1954 until his retirement in 1992. Upon the death of Jack’s father Garvin, Jack and his family also farmed and ranched the Stew art family land west of Hennessey. The family spent many memorable years fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. Every day was an adventure with a story to tell.

After retirement, Jack became an avid recreational sailor and he loved spending time with his family at the cabin on Grand Lake. Jack was an accomplished pilot and flew many hours between Enid and Grand Lake.

Jack will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Jamae, his daughters Jan Stewart of Jackson, Mississippi, Amy (husband Mike) Dunn of Oklahoma City, Sarah Crandall of Oklahoma City and Lora Davidson of New Braunfels, Texas. Jack’s grandchildren, Sarah and Jack Davidson and Lillian Crandall were his pride and joy. He is survived by his sisters Carolyn Standridge of Buena Vista, Arkansas and Marolyn Stewart of Camarillo, CA.

Jack had an engagingly wry sense of humor and wit. His witticisms are the things of legend. He embraced life and its adventures and will be missed by all who knew him.
