The funeral service for Dorothy C. Stephan, age 96, will be Saturday, December 30, 2017, 10:30 AM at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev Jim Edmison officiating. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Dorothy passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 24, 2017, at the United Methodist Health Care Center at The Commons, her home for two and one half years.
Dorothy was born April 20, 1921, to Herbert T. and Della A. Lesnett in McAlester Oklahoma. Moving with family to Enid at age 3, Dorothy attended Lincoln Elementary, Emerson Junior High and graduated with the Enid High School Class of 1939. Upon graduation from high school, Dorothy married Sherod Vincent Noel and had one son, Jerry Vincent Noel. Following Sherod’s death in November 1942, she married Walter A. Stephan on February 16, 1946, had one son Ronald Dean, celebrating 52 years of marriage prior to Walt’s passing on October 14, 1998.
During Dorothy’s life in Enid, she was employed by F.W. Woolworth, Southwestern Bell, Central National Bank and Enid Public Schools. She retired after 20 years of service as a school secretary with Enid Public Schools in 1985.
Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Enid and was passionate in her faith. In addition to volunteer work at the church, she enjoyed many trips abroad with the church-sponsored Prime Timers Group.
One of Dorothy’s great loves was travel. She visited many countries and states, including Germany, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, the Bahamas, Alaska, and Hawaii. She also loved knitting, sewing, quilting, ceramics and collecting Hummel figurines and commemorative plates.
She is survived by one son, Ron and wife Melody, and 5 grandchildren: Vincent and wife Lynn, Scott and wife Melissa, Shauna, Elizabeth and Greg. Four great grandchildren: Julia, Mackenzie and husband Caleb, Harrison, and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers Leon, Frank, Bill and a son Jerry.
