The funeral service for Robert Staples, age 84 will be held Friday, January 7, 2011
at 10:00 am at the Christian Union Church, Douglas, OK. Rev Robert Stewart will
officiate. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the
direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Robert was born October 18, 1926 to Robert A and Edith C Mitchell Staples in
Lucien, OK and died January 3, 2011 at his home in Douglas. He was given the
12th grade in school because he was drafted into WWII. He served in the US Army.
He married Doris Jean McLaren on August 18, 1951 in Covington, OK. She
preceded him in death on November 2, 1998. Bob worked for the Frisco Railroad
as a Bridge Inspector. He liked the American Legion and attended Douglas
Christian Union Church when he was able.
Survivors include his children: Mary Staples Barnes, Lloyd Robert Staples, Elaine
Jean Staples Ehardt; 5 grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Ashlynn Grace;
brother, Farold Staples of Guthrie, OK and sister, Lavina Staples McLaren of Alton,
IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, one sister, Lucille who
died in infancy and some cousins of whom he loved.
Memorials may be made to donor’s favorite church, charity or Oklahoma Medical
Research Foundation. Condolences may be emailed to the family at
