A Celebration of Life Services for Kerwin J. Spring age 77 of Enid will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Waukomis Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Kerwin was born April 17, 1941 in Okeene, OK to David and Ruth Outhier Spring and passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 due to respiratory and pulmonary hypertension complications. He grew up and graduated from high school in 1959. On June 1, of that year, Kerwin joined the U. S. Navy where he was stationed at North Island Naval Base, California and spent two years stationed at Subic Bay in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged on May 16, 1963. A few months later, on August 31, 1963, he married Kathryn Toedtman in Enid at the First United Methodist Church where he was a member. Over the years, Kerwin was employed by Vance Airforce Base Fire Department and Champlin Production Department. He was an independent contract pumper and for the last 40+ years he farmed around the Drummond/Waukomis area.
Known by his grandchildren as “Papa”, Kerwin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling with his wife in his Fifth-wheel, playing golf, fishing, hunting, sports, music, dancing, and having an overall good time. He especially loved being part of his kids and grandchildren’s activities. Kerwin was loved by all.
Kerwin is survived by his wife Kathyrn of the home, daughter Shellee Spring Perkins and husband John of Overland Park, KS, son Rick Spring and wife Stacy of Drummond, grandchildren; Emma, Kate, and Jake Spring, and sister DeLaine Hockett and husband Fred of Yukon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Mark William Spring.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Drummond Sports Boosters with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
