Allen Spencer

March 25, 1943 — September 30, 2019

Allen King Spencer of Enid, OK, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, in Wellington, KS. Services will be at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home in Enid, OK, on 2:00 pm Thursday, October 3, 2019 with Rev. Scott Spencer officiating. Burial will be before the service at the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

He was born March 25, 1943, to LeRoy and Jennie Thompson Spencer in Enid, OK. He graduated from Hunter High School in 1961 and married his childhood sweetheart, Frances Bonnett Spencer in 1963. After briefly attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, he graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa and worked for 41 years as an aircraft mechanic at Vance AFB in Enid. Allen was a avid gardener for many years and was a member of Garfield County Master Gardeners. He was also a member of Enid Beautiful, Inc (Friends of Government Springs Park) and the Men’s Extension Garden Club. For many years was a volunteer leader in the 4-H program and served as superintendent of the horticulture department at the Garfield County Fair. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Enid. Allen was a huge fan of all things OSU and also spent countless hours supporting his nieces and nephews and other young people in the community. He spent many summers watching games at the David Allen Ballpark.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Michael Shawn Spencer and sister in law Judy Bonnett. He is survived by his wife, Frances, his daughter, Stephanie, his son, Scott, his sister and brother-in-law, Lynette and Dan Mikesh, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vicki and Don Calsing, his brother-in-law, Ricky Bonnett, stepmother, Virginia Spencer, stepbrother and sister-in-law Dick and Cynthia Shawley, stepsister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Ron Sommer, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Memorials may be made to the Garfield County 4-H Foundation or the Garfield County Master Gardeners Scholarship Fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
