Mass of Christian burial for Mary L. Smolarek, 74, of Norman, Oklahoma, will be at 10:00 am, March 16th, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Enid. Father Dan Letourneau will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, March 15th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Burial to follow at Enid Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Mary was born January 1st, 1937, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Ole and Aletha Dye. She passed away at Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, Oklahoma, on Thursday, March 10th, 2011, following period of ill health. Mary attended Enid High School graduating in 1955. She was a member of the outstanding drum & bugle corps who placed first in the Nationals in New York City. She married Robert L. Smolarek on April 27th, 1957, at Vance Air Force Base Chapel, Enid, and they traveled extensively while Bob was in the military retiring back to Enid in 1973. Mary was an employee of Liberty Federal Savings & Loan for 17 years, retiring in 2001. Due to continued Ill health, she moved to assisted living, Arbor House in Norman, Oklahoma, where she has resided for the last 1 1/2 years. She was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Deborah Earley and husband Bill of Norman, Oklahoma; three grandsons: Tyler of Huntsville, Alabama, and Ryan and Austin of Norman, Oklahoma. Sister, Beverly and Herman Krausse of Enid, and brother Monty & Lori Dye of Houston, Texas. Nieces Annette Krausse, Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer and Victoria Schuele of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Smolarek and parents.
