Tommy Smith

Funeral services for Tommy H. Smith age 71 of Enid will be 2 pm Thursday January 30, 2014 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Tom was born November 2, 1942 in Enid to Lynn and Orpha Piper Smith and passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital. He attended and graduated from Kremlin High School. He entered the U.S. Army on December 3, 1963 and served two tours in the Vietnam War being honorably discharged on December 8, 1969.

He married the love of his life Mary Ann McHendry on January 28, 1989 at Calvary Baptist Church in Enid and would have celebrated 25 years of marriage. Tom faithfully took his wife Mary Ann to lunch every Saturday never missing a day for 25 years.

Tom went to work for the railroad for a short time, and then went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas retiring after over 30 years of service. Tom was an avid NASCAR and OU Sooner fan. The pride and joy of his life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of the home, daughter Stacy Byrum, four grandchildren Chevelle, Shelby, Jacob, Dakota and one great granddaughter Emma, aunt, Eva Burke of Enid, brother-in-laws, L.H. Diel of Breckenridge and Mark Diel and wife Judi of Fairmont, sisters-in-law Peggy Jensen and husband Pete of Mansfield, TX, Shirley Blodgett and husband Mark, Sharon Long and companion Dan Buckley of Enid, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and several close friends. His little partners Maggie Mae and Missie Rae there two English Bulldogs, who he pampered and loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.

Memorials may be made to Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.

The family has asked that everyone dress casual.
