Sue Smith

April 17, 1930 — July 25, 2019

Susan Stetson Smith, 89, of Omega passed from this life to a better one July 25, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma. A service will be held at 10:30 am August 6, 2019, at Grace Mennonite Church in Enid with Rev. Richard Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Omega Cemetery, Omega, Oklahoma. There will be a visitation at Golden Oaks Retirement Village on Monday, August 5th from 10:00 - 11:00 am, and then the family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Sue was born on April 17, 1930 to Lottie and Ezra Stetson in Kewanee, Illinois. She was the youngest of six children: two brothers, Don and Bob, and three sisters, Jane Bennett, Helen Smith and Carolyn Bond.

She graduated from Neponset High School then attended Augustana College before completing her degree at Oklahoma State University. She loved to teach and taught kindergarten in Wichita, Kansas before marrying Bob Smith June 16, 1954. They resided in Rancho Cordova, California where she taught before starting her family. In 1971, Sue and Bob returned to farm in Omega, Oklahoma.

The Bible, Christian faith and relationships with family and friends were Sue’s strength. God blessed her with joy, a positive outlook, a love for people, and a beautiful singing voice which she used to glorify Him. She was an attentive and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Smith and wife Sandy of Franklin, Tennessee and Warren Smith and wife Rosa of Omega, Oklahoma; two daughters Suzanne Johnson and husband Adrick of rural Jet, Oklahoma and Kathleen Stoltzfus and husband Tony of Redding, California, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

All are invited to a memorial service to celebrate her life, at Grace Mennonite Church, Enid OK, Pastor Richard Stevens officiating. She will be interred in the Omega Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ladusau-Evans, 2800 N Van Buren St, Enid and additional information can be found here

. Memorials in Sue’s name may be made to Grace Mennonite Church Building Fund or Cookson Hills Ministries with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
