A Celebration of Life for Clarence D Sims, 91, of Enid, will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017, 10:00 AM in the Lemley Funeral Home Chapel, Oneonta, Alabama. The family will receive friends at Lemley Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday. Services are under the direction of the Lemley Funeral Home, Oneonta, Alabama, 1-205-274-2323. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born April 7, 1926 in Oneonta, Alabama the son of Arthur and Anna E Vaughn Sims and passed away May 15, 2017 at Greenbrier Nursing Home where he resided the last four years.
Clarence was veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. Clarence was united in marriage to Jean Truitt on October 18, 1946 in Duncan, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death May 29, 2012. Mr. Sims was a driller in the oil fields for many years. He was a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ in Cleveland,
Alabama where he served as an elder. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Robert Sims and his wife Brenda of Enid, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Jeanna, Michelle, Chad, Travis and Casey, four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Camron, Brady and Collin, two brothers, Ray and Coy, two sisters, Bell and Laura and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was also preceded in death by a son, Mike, one brother and two sisters.
