On Thursday, June 4th, 2020, Bill Simon, age 90, passed away at his home in Enid, Oklahoma. Bill was born on July 27th, 1929 in Alva, Oklahoma to William E. and Miriam Simon. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned his M.D. in 1954. He did his Pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City and Ohio State University. He served as a Flight Surgeon for the US Air Force before moving to Enid and establishing his Pediatric practice in 1959. Bill was an outstanding diagnostician and a well-respected Pediatrician. During the course of his career, he received numerous accolades as well as professional and community awards. He had a love for the outdoors, was an avid hunter, and took great pride in his involvement with the Grand National Quail Club. He collected antiques and during his retirement authored a book on the Civil War. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children William E., Patricia, Mary Lou, Scott, Jeffrey, Julie, Ryan. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, spouses of his children and grandchildren and his brother Robert.
He is preceded in death by Mary Elmore Simon and David Simon.
Viewing will be held at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on June 5th and 6th between the hours of 8am to 9pm. A memorial honoring Dr Simon is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oklahoma Medical Association, Wounded Warriors, First United Methodist Church, and the Grand National Quail Club with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
