Dale Vernon Shook, age 67 passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at St Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He was born February 26, 1943 in St Louis, MO to Charles and Stella (Cathcart) Shook. He attended school in Marissa, IL and attended college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He worked as a mine manager in the coal mines in Coulterville, IL for ten years. He then moved to Enid in 1984 and started Shook Home Improvement and continued to operate the business until his death. He earned the respect of many families and became friends with many. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
Survivors include his significant other, June Siegmann of Enid, his son, Vance Shook and wife Angie of Marissa, IL, daughters, Laurie Bingel and husband Bryan of Marissa, IL; Elaine Holcomb of Waterloo, IL and Evonne Albert and husband Mark of Lenzburg, FL; twin sister, Gale Gregory and husband Bobby of Marissa, IL, sister, Majorie Wilkerson, of Marissa, IL; one adopted brother, Aaron Shook of Marissa, IL; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Valerie.
Dale donated his earthly remains OU Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. A private memorial service will be held by his children at a later date.
