We are saddened by our loss, but celebrate the life of Helen I. Sherman, 90. Helen passed peacefully into Jesus’s arms at her home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, surrounded by her daughters.

Helen was born on March 26, 1934 to Clifford and Velma (Gragert) Osborn in Lucien, Oklahoma. She lived most of her life in Enid and attended Enid Schools. Helen was baptized at the Evangelical United Brethern church in the 1940s, and walked with God the rest of her life.

Helen married Richard Sherman on June 17, 1951. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Kirby, Kathie, Patricia, Tracy. She shared a love for Jesus with her family and was a wonderful example of how to love and care for others.

Helen enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, and gardening. She loved to travel with her husband Richard and found great enjoyment in planning their trips together. Helen celebrated every family milestone and accomplishment. She has been a member of Willow View Global Methodist Church for many years. Before retirement, Helen worked in the oil and gas industry and was an active member of the Enid Desk & Derrick Association. In her later years, she enjoyed gathering at a table with her family for conversation around a jigsaw puzzle.

Helen loved deeply, and was deeply loved by her family and loved ones, all of whom will miss the light she gave to their lives. She is survived by her daughters Kathie and husband Sam Young of Topeka, Kansas, Pat and husband Ed May of Carrier, Oklahoma, and Tracy Sherman, Enid; grandchildren Tammy (May) and Cody Watkins, Andrea (May) and Colin McClaskey, Samuel, Kevin, and Amanda Young; 8 great-grandchildren: Kaidy, Nicole, and Elizabeth Watkins, Nolin and Brooke McClaskey, Grant Ammons and Cole and Heidi Kleinebekel; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends. Helen was greeted in Heaven by her husband Richard, son Kirby, granddaughter Christina (May) Kleinebekel, parents, brothers, and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Willow View Global Methodist Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be made, memories shared, and services viewed online at www.ladusauevans.com.
