A Celebration of Life for Josephine C. (Flora) Shellady, age 88, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, January 16, 2023 at Central Christian Church with Rev. Susan Payne and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery will follow under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Josephine was born January 4, 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma at her grandmother Keith’s house, to Tim and Dovie (Keith) Flora, and passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at the home of Larry and Cathy Jo Anderson in Hunter, Oklahoma.
Josephine attended Glencoe Public Schools. She worked at a café in Pawnee, Oklahoma where she met Ralph H. Shellady. They were married August 6, 1951 in Pawnee. They made their home in Enid where Ralph worked at Champlin Refinery. They had three children, Cathy Jo, Ralph, Jr. (Dugan) and Tammy. Josephine worked at Newman’s Department Store in Enid, Oklahoma, where she started as Christmas help, and eventually retired as credit manager after 25 years. After retirement, she worked for Luckinbill, Inc. until her health declined. She was a member of Northside Assembly of God and later became a member of Central Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Shellady; son, Ralph, Jr; sister, Virginia Mae, and brothers John and Jerry Flora; and her parents, Tim and Dovie Flora. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Jo Anderson and husband Larry, of Hunter, OK; Tammy McCloskey and husband Joe, of Clearwater, KS; six grandchildren, Kristopher Ford and wife Tina, of Pond Creek, OK; Jayson Shellady and wife Christi, of Kerryville, OK; Joshua McCloskey and wife Brittany, of Haysville, KS; Brandon Shellady and wife Toni, of Rougemont, NC; Jeremy Shellady of Ft. Mills, SC; Meghan Schwartz and husband Mitch, of Cheney, KS; ten great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Harris and husband Brandon, of Clarksville, TN; Jilianne Ford of Enid, Ok; Nate Shellady and wife Priscilla, of Ashland, KY; Nic Shellady of Dallas, TX; Tucker Ford of Pond Creek, OK; Cae Shellady, of Ft. Mills, SC; Westley and Harlow Shellady, of Rougemont, NC; Nora and Hallie Schwartz, of Cheney, KS; six great-great grandchildren, Valerie Neil, Kris and Novaleigh Whitefield, Archer and Dallas Harris and Casheous Fields; and daughter-in-law Kathy Shellady and Pete, of Enid, Ok. She also leaves a very special niece Nancy Thompson and husband Don, of Newbury Park, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions in Josephine may be made to The American Heart Association or Complete Hospice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
