Funeral services for LaVelle Sheffer, age 93, of Enid will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Mr. Kendon Mulanax officiatin. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
LaVelle was born on December 2, 1927 in Covington, Oklahoma and went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in Enid. She attended school in Covington and later moved to Enid with her beloved mother, Vivian Terrel. She graduated from Enid High School in 1945. She and her husband John W. Sheffer were married for 57 years before he passed away in 2010. Together they accomplished much and LaVelle excelled as wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver. They had two children; Phil Sheffer and Janene Sheffer Yost. LaVelle was an active member of the Billings Christian Church where she played piano and organ for more than 50 years. She was dearly loved by family and friends.
LaVelle was preceded in death by her mother, husband, and her son and daughter. She was also preceded by her brother, Cloyd Terrel and her niece, Janice JoLene Terrel Schroeder who affectionately called her “Mom LaVelle”. Survivors include nephews Virgil Schroeder; Terrel Schroeder and wife Melody and their son Parker Neal; Cory Schroeder and wife Christy and their daughters, Madison and Micayla; and niece Jakki JoLene Schroeder, all of Oklahoma City and the Piedmont area. Also, nephew Bill White and wife Marilyn, of Garber; and nieces Donna White Lander and Linda White Wadsworth of Freeland, Washington; as well as honorary sister, Bertha Hostetler of Billings.
The family wishes to express their thanks to her many friends as well as the churches of Billings and Garber who provided LaVelle with prayers, well wishes and tasteful goodies. She will be missed by all.
