Robert Semrad

November 17, 1928 — January 19, 2011

Robert Eugene Semrad was born on November 17, 1928 in Waukomis, OK on the

family farm to W.R. and Emma Semrad, and died peacefully in his home (3 miles

down the road from where he was born) on January 19, 2011 after a battle with

cancer.

Bob graduated from Waukomis High School in 1946, where he drove a school bus

as a high school student. He farmed in the Waukomis area all of his life retiring at

the age of 70. He married Frances Yanda on June 3, 1953, and was married for 54

years until her death in 2007. Bob served in the US Army from December 1953

until August 1955. He was stationed at Fort Chaffee, Fort Riley, Fort Lee and Fort

Sill where he would often hitchhike when he had leave to come home to see his

young bride and baby daughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, parents, W.R. and Emma Semrad,

brothers, Leo Semrad and Vernon Semrad and sister, Dorothy Markes.

He is survived by children, Janice and Ed Creek, Dallas, TX; Marlene and Jim

Gelsthorpe, and Peggy and Mark Kenaga, Enid, OK, and Roy and Gary Semrad of

Waukomis; his brother, Ernest T Semrad of Waukomis, eight grandchildren and

numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Carter Hospice or Oklahoma Patriot Guard Riders.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Ladusau-Evans

Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Burial will be in the

Waukomis Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 5:30 – 6:

30 Monday evening at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
