Funeral services for John F. Sciro age 65 of Enid will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm. under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
John was born July 16, 1948 in Birmingham, AL to Francis and Giovanna Alongi Sciro and passed away early Thursday, February 20, 2014. He attended and graduated High School and received his Associates Degree in History from Sam Houston. John entered the U.S. Army, May 9, 1968 and served in the Special Forces Army Rangers with the 82nd Air Borne out of FT. Bragg, NC. He was a drill instructor at FT. Benning, GA until being honorably discharged on May 8, 1974. He married Terrie Evans on July 31, 1969. John worked as an electrician for Brown and Root. He later married Karen (Luckett) Smith on February 14, 1998 in Chattanooga, TN. They moved to Enid in March 31, 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Enid and also attended mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Karen of the home, three daughters, Kim Sciro of Sterrett, AL, Robin Sands and Kit of Lyons, CO, and Paula Fleming and Robby, of Willis, TX, mother Jennie Sciro of Birmingham, AL, sister Johanna Riemens-VanLaare and John of Brandon, MS, brother Guy Sciro and Helen Anne of Vestavia, AL, step children Derek Smith, Drake and Liz Smith, Dylan and Stacie Smith, Drew and Chelsea Smith, 8 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, father and mother-in-law Bill and Barbara Luckett, brother-in-law Keith Luckett, and man’s best friend Cricket, his loving dog.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
