Venita M Scheller, age 87, passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at St Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She was born September 23, 1924 at her grandparent’s home near Watonga, OK to Roy and Opal Harris Masters.
She married Howard Scheller on December 23, 1944 in Enid, OK. He passed away on March 17, 2004. Venita was a homemaker as well as an avid golfer and President of the Women’s Golf Association for three years. Rheumatoid Arthritis stopped her golfing activities and she and her husband took up fishing for many years. She was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church. She has been an active volunteer and Bridge player at the Enid Senior Center since 1997. She was President of the Board of Directors for three years and volunteer coordinator for sixteen months.
She is survived by her son, Richard Scheller and wife Marilynn of Collinsville, OK, daughter, Linda Frank of Enid, OK; grandchildren: Jennifer Martinez of Poway, CA, Nicholas Frank of Enid, OK, Nicholas Williams of Collinsville, OK; great grandson, Jacob Martinez of Poway, CA; brother, William Masters of Neosho, MO; sister, Marilyn Fox of Tampa, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard and brother, Glen Masters.
A private family burial will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Memorial Park Cemetery. The casket will be open until 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Rev Scott Whittenburg and Rev Kenneth Wade will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
