Peggy Jo Samples, loving mother, grandmother and wife passed away, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City from heart failure. She was a resident of Enid for the past five years, but lived much of her life in Wakita.
Peggy was born in Zenda, KS in 1936 to Russell and Ruth Parosn. She grew up in Wakita and graduated from Wakita High School in 1954. She was valedictorian of her graduating class. She married Jim Samples and together they raised three sons while living in Wakita, Pampa, TX and Ulyssess, KS. She worked at various businesses in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas as a bookkeeper and later a commodities broker. After losing Jim in 2000, Peggy found happiness a second time with Warren Kibler.
She was an active member of Christian Church of the Covenant in Enid.
At various times in her life, Peggy was a snow skier, avid lake enthusiast and camper, and motorcyclist. One of her fondest memories was a motorcycle excursion she and Jim took to Yellowstone Park in the late 1980’s. They took the :long route: on a trip she never forgot. She also became an expert RV traveler later in life taking many wonderful trips with both Jim and Warren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Jim Samples and her second-life partner, Warren Kibler.
Peggy is survived by a large and loving family that includes three sons and spouses: Keith and Meggan Craig, Craig and Carol and Kent and Tonya; three stepchildren: Michael and Larry Kibler and Margie Campbell; fourteen grandchildren: Ryan, Sheridan, Gavin and Colin Samples; Jennifer, Karen and Ellen Samples; Katie and Brandon Samples; Kaysha, Kalan and Kallie Palmer;; and Seth and Clayton Kibler; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Ronnie and Mary, Larry and Jeannie and Roger and Diane.
Services will be held at the Christian Church of the Covenant with Rev Pat Sutherlin officiating. Family visitation will be at 2:30 pm with services a t 3:30 pm Monday December 27, 2010. Burial will be in the Wakita Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the LOGOS Ministry at Christian Church of the Covenant with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
