Funeral service for Cecil R. Ross, 87, of Covington will be 10:30 AM Tuesday July 20, 2010 in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Tommy Donaldson officiating. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church or Hospice Circle of Love with the funeral home custodian of the funds.
Cecil was born July 13, 1923 in Marshall, Ok to Vinton Ray and Carola Mae Shaffer Ross. He graduated from Marshall High School and then attended Enid Business College. Cecil and Jo Ann Potter were married October 3, 1944 in Enid. Two days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor Cecil enlisted in the Army Air Corp Dec. 9th in Enid. He was honorably discharged as a Staff/Sergeant December 8, 1945 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Cecil returned and they lived in Marshall, Douglas, and then Covington and where he was a wheat farmer the rest of his life. He was the bookkeeper at the Covington Livestock Auction and was an avid bird watcher in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clyde Alvin Ross and James Lewis Ross. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of the home; two sons, James Ray and wife, Diana of Sand Springs; David Lee and wife, Linda of Broken Arrow; and daughter, Dee Ann Davis and husband, Dwayne of Sand Springs; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a sister Carolyn Ruth Newell, Marshall.
