Virgil Roggow

Virgil Roggow, 74, passed away peacefully in his home near Garber, Oklahoma on August 21, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born December 16, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma to Herman and Lorene (Eggers) Roggow. He graduated from Hunter High School in 1957 where he was a State Farmer Degree recipient. He played basketball and baseball and was an avid sports fan. Virgil was a full-time farmer and rancher raising wheat, sheep and cattle. Prior to becoming a full-time farmer he worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas and Central Machine and Tool of Enid.

Other awards and activities include the Garber FFA Chapter Honorary FFA degree recipient, Garber Rotary Outstanding Farmer award, Garber Public School Board of Education Member, Oklahoma Sheep and Wool Producers Association, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Member.

Virgil was baptized and received confirmation in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Breckinridge. He later attended the Garber Immanuel Lutheran Church. His service in the Lutheran church included 21 years as Elder, 9 years as the Sunday School Superintendent and Finance Committee.

Virgil married Joleen Wehrenberg on November 25, 1960 in Marshall, Oklahoma and celebrated 52 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Joleen and children, Son, Lyle and wife Kim Roggow of Duncan, OK, Son, Curt and wife Allison Roggow of Hillsdale, OK, Daughter, Jan and husband, Brett McDonald of Tulsa, OK. Nine grandchildren, Audrey and husband Koty, Sean, Garrett, Lauren, Seth, Camden, Brighton, August and Taylor. Also, survived by step mother Velma Pereboom Roggow, one brother, Verlon and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Lorene Roggow.

The family will receive friends at the Ladusau Funeral Home on Friday, August 23 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Garber on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Scott Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Garber Immanuel Lutheran Church Flower Fund or the OMRF Pancreatic Cancer Division.
