Hilda Roggow

Funeral services for Hilda Roggow age 89 of Enid will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Breckinridge with Rev. Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the Breckinridge Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Hilda was born on the Roggow farm north of Breckinridge on August 19, 1922 and died at The Commons Methodist Care Center in Enid on September 17, 2011, the anniversary of her baptismal birthday. She was the sixth child of eleven children of Reinhard and Ella (Schossow) Roggow.

Hilda Frieda Lydia Roggow was baptized on September 17, 1922, and confirmed on May 3, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Breckinridge by Rev. Paul Hoyer. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from the 8th grade in 1937.

Hilda lived in Enid for a number of years. During this time she worked at Standard Brand for four years and at Gold Spot Dairy for 48 years and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Enid, where she taught Sunday school for 13 years. She moved back to the farm to help take care of her father in 1968. At that time, she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran, Breckinridge until her death. She was very active in her church with Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Lutheran Laymen’s League, and Aid Association/Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Bible study, choir, quilting, church upkeep, and Project Phillip.

After her father’s death, Hilda moved back to Enid in 1976 where she lived in her own home. She lived there until February 2007, when she moved to the Sterling House of Enid and most recently, The Commons.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Bertha Loesch and Della Palmer, and brothers Bernhard, Herman, and Erwin Roggow, and one nephew Raymond Loesch.

Hilda is survived by two sisters, Minnie Wilgus and Bernice McCanless both of Enid, three brothers, Wallace Roggow and wife Ladova, Victor Roggow and Gerald Roggow and wife Judy all of Breckinridge, 29 nieces and nephews, and number of great nieces and nephews. “Aunt Hilda” had a special place in her heart for all of her nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church Perpetual Cemetery Fund, or Hospice Circle of Love, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be sent to www.ladusauevansfh.com
