C. J. was born in Enid, Oklahoma to Elizabeth and Dick Rogers on June 26, 1940 and passed away on June 5, 2020 in Tulsa, OK. He grew up on a farm in the Hunter, Ok area where he graduated from high school. While he was in school was active in FFA, concert and marching band activities. His favorite instrument was the clarinet. C. J. graduated from Phillips University, Bachelor of Arts, and Colorado State University, Master of Arts, in music. He later received his public-school administrative degree.

C.J. married Janice Kay Herbert, August 13, 1961. C.J. and Janice were married nearly 60 years. While residing in Enid for the first 25 years their children Jill and Jay were born. C. J. was the band director in several Oklahoma schools-Jefferson, Pond Creek, North Enid, and principal at Carrier and Okarche. Upon retirement in Okarche he joined his wife Janice teaching in the Department of Defense schools in Heidelberg AFB, Germany and Lakenheath AFB, England. While overseas they had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and Asia. When they returned to the US, they made their home at Grand Lake, Oklahoma where C.J. served as superintendent at Ketchum schools.

Wanting to spend time with their grandchildren they decided to move to Gaithersburg, Maryland where C.J taught in Silver Springs High School and other area schools. Another move for C.J. and Janice, to keep up with their grandkids, took them to Raleigh, N.C.

While living in Enid he was active in the Elks Lodge and Lions Club of N. Enid. He was president of the Garfield County Education Association and also Teacher of the Year at North Enid schools.

C.J. enjoyed water sports and lake living most of his life. He will always be remembered for his slalom skiing skills and his love of the deer at their Grand Lake home.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Jill Rogers Russell and her husband Richard, and their children Cade and Riley Kay of Raleigh, NC; and son Jay Rogers and his wife Theresa of Tulsa. He will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kirby.
