Rita Jane Bamburg

A memorial service for Rita J. Bamburg, age 78, of Enid, will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home in Enid, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Rita Jane (Johnson) Bamburg was born in Memphis, Tennessee (which she would happily tell anyone who asked) on October 14, 1945. After moving to Enid, Oklahoma with her parents and completing school at Enid High School, she was married to Marvin Leroy "Jerry" Bamburg for over 50 years until his passing in 2015. She was a dedicated homebody who somehow was always on the move, enjoying meals out with friends, as she was not fond of cooking. Rita's compassionate nature extended to animals, often taking in strays and working diligently with The Cat Clinic and the Enid SPCA to manage the stray population responsibly.

Her hobbies included an extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia, which she amassed from around the globe, showcasing her enduring love for the music legend.

Rita passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a progressively brief illness on July 28, 2024.

Rita was a caring mother to two daughters: Debra Moore Bushong of Dallas, Texas (and her husband Mark), and Lexy Hammond of Centennial, Colorado (and her husband Adam). She also had her much beloved grandchildren: Spencer Moore (Dallas) and Olivia Hammond (Centennial). She maintained close ties with her cherished family in North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lexie and Bonnie Johnson, and her husband, Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Cat Clinic in Enid, Oklahoma, and/or The Enid SPCA, honoring Rita's love for pets. Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home will serve as custodian of the funds.
