Graveside service for Faye Riffel, 92, of Enid, will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Garden Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery. Revs Gail Edmison and Gordon Epps officiating. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5-6:30 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
Dessie Faye was born June 5, 1919 in Middleburg, OK to Joe Henry Pilgrim and Mary Virginia Bryan and passed away November 9, 2011 in Enid, OK. She graduated from Carrier High School and attended Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. Faye married John Riffel in 1939. They lived and farmed in the Carrier community for 56 years until John’s death in 1997.
She was a charter member of the Banner Home Demonstration Club and worked many years on the election board. She enjoyed gardening, was an excellent seamstress and made many quilts for her family. Faye attended the Carrier Congregational Church.
Faye is survived by her children, Pat and husband Jack Sprague of Austin, CO, Sandra and husband Gary Long of Yukon, OK, Jeannie and husband Cliff Buckminster of Lahoma, OK, Randy Riffel and wife Deawna of Enid, OK; seven grandchildren, Mary and husband Tim Nelson of Arvada, CO, Katie and husband Eric Schiltz of Evergreen, Co, Sara and husband Bryan Skaggs of Enid, OK, Sydney Riffel of Enid, OK, Penny and husband Zac Watkins of Carrier, OK, Dan Long and Alia of Austin, TX, Scott Long and wife Brooke of Katy, TX; seven great grandchildren and one brother, Orville Pilgrim of Sacramento, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, three brothers, Marvin, Audave and Norman Pilgrim and one sister, Juanita Boyles.
