A Celebration of Life for Jean Lovern Reece 88, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Monday, May 16, 2016 at New Hope United Methodist Church with Reverend Gail Edmison to officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jean was born November 21, 1927 in Hunter, Oklahoma. She was the third of five daughters born to John Shields and Edna (Gray) Shields. Jean passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
She attended Waukomis Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1946. She married Francis M. “Sandy” Reece in December of 1947, and they had four children. She worked for a time for Vance Air Force Base and as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell. Jean worked over 25 for Dr. Harvey Olson, DVM. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a founding member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Jean loved to garden, whether it was her flowers or vegetables. She was a talented artist and painted many beautiful landscapes.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. (Sandy) Reece, daughter Vicki Wirtz, and two sisters, Ivis McGuar and Lucille Sade.
She is survived by her children, son Jim Reece and wife Susan, of North Richland, Texas; son Mike Reece and wife Lynn of Haysville, Kansas; daughter Kristi Keyes, of Yukon, Oklahoma; two sisters, Joyce Calloway, of Braman, Oklahoma; Marilyn Myers, of Brooks, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Jean’s name may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church Volunteers in Missions with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
