David Ransford

A Celebration of Life service for David James “Jim” Ransford, age 78, of Enid, is 10:00 am Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Don Burris officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Cleo Springs Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 21, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Friends who cannot attend the visitation may stop by the funeral home from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm to see Jim and sign the guestbook. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jim was born August 8, 1938 in Enid to Fred Ransford and Nora (Cullop) Ransford and passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Enid.

Jim was raised in Medford, graduating high school there in 1956. Right after high school he enlisted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country for two years before being honorably discharged. He returned to Enid and in 1960 he married Betty Jo Robertson. Later, he married Karen Ring in 1999. Jim worked at Vance Air Force Base as a Fireman for 42 years, retiring in 2002 as a Crew Chief. He worked as a welder in the oil field and opened his own business, Jim’s Welding. He was known as one of the best welders in this area. Jim and Karen attended Cowboy Church, at Lahoma. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Jim was well liked and had many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nora Ransford, and sister Dee Ann Robertson.

He is survived by his wife Karen, of the home in Enid; two daughters, Cindy Ransford, of Ft. Worth, TX; Nancy Chupp, of South Bend, Indiana; four grandchildren, Chloe Ransford; Christina Chupp;; Nikki Littlepage; Madeline Duncan;

one great-granddaughter, Audrey Littlepage; step-son Shannon Duncan, of San Diego, CA; brother Don Ransford, of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mary Helen Isham, of Oklahoma City and RoseFerda, of Wakita Community Health Center, OK.

Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Cancer Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
