Jose Quintanilla

Funeral services for Joe Quintanilla are 10:00 am, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family will be Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00pm at Ladusau-Evans.

Jose was born June 22, 1937 in Willacy County, Texas to Miguel and Evangelina Quintanilla, and passed away July 6, 2021 in Enid.

He graduated from Harlingen High School in 1956. He then joined the Air Force serving for four years of active duty. After active duty, he worked as an airplane mechanic and later as foreman of the T 38 shop at Vance Air Force Base, retiring in 1999 after 40 years.

Joe grew up farming, and continued his interest of tilling and harvesting by helping area farmer friends throughout his life.

Joe loved his family and friends and enjoyed travelling with his wife Sandra to south Texas for the winter after they retired. Joe enjoyed fishing with his family and friends in south Texas and was always ready to get on the water and wet a line for the entire day.

In 1961, Joe married Patsy Scott and was immediately surrounded by stepdaughters Debi, Cindi, Pati and son Chris and daughter Melinda joined the family.

Joe married Sandra Reed in 1980 and they enjoyed 40 years together.

Joe was a friend to everyone and would help anyone in need. He loved to spend time with his family and especially the grandchildren, each having their own nickname he had given them.

Joe is survived by his wife Sandra; daughter, Melinda Fletchall and family, step-children; Christopher (Renee) Scott and family; Gary (Judy) Reed and family; Shawna Gaines and family; Debi, Cindi and Pati; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a great grandchild due in July; sisters, Elida Gonzalez; Oralia Sanchez; Irene Hinjosa; and Rita Franco; brother, Arturo Quintanilla, and several nieces and nephews.

His parents precede him in death.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
