Graveside services for John Clayton Pruitt, Sr. are 2:00 pm, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa, Oklahoma with Reverend Nathan Painter to officiate. Cremation and service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
John was born November 16, 1943 in Watonga, Oklahoma to John Henry and Nannie (Hawkins) Pruitt, and passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 in Enid, Ok.
At 16, John began his service to the Army being stationed in Germany. He would often talk about his time there speaking of his MANY shenanigans, the food and his comrades. He received his GED later in life. After his military duties were completed, he met the love of his life, Nita Charlene Pruitt and they were wed March 11, 1967. John enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, Oklahoma football, cooking and watching and feeding the MANY hummingbirds that would visit him every year. John never met a person he didn’t like. He was full of personality and kindness, often preparing food for people who had lost a loved one, the elderly, or someone who just needed a good meal. The time he spent with friends and family after the decline of his health was very special to him. He was loved by many and will be painfully missed.
He is survived by one sister, LaDonna Malaney of Denison, Texas; three children, Clay Pruitt and wife Crystal, of Bartlesville, OK; daughter, Ginger Patton and husband Jim, of Kremlin, OK; daughter, Erin Evans and husband Paul, of Jennings, OK; five grandchildren, Quinton, Mitchell, Hannah, Meghan, and Josie; three great-grandchildren, Roman, Koplin, and Lawson.
John is preceded in death by his beloved wife Charlene; his parents, John Henry and Nannie; his brothers, Orley, Luke, Peewee, and his sisters, Lorene, Julia, Lavonne and Shirley.
Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to Greenbrier Nursing Home with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
