Dale began married life in Baxter Springs, KS working for Bell Lumber Company. The next year they moved back to Enid to work for the Frisco Railroad. In the late 1950”s, Dale began his construction career building small homes and storm shelters. Dale was instrumental in reviving the Lahoma community by developing several neighborhoods and encouraging businesses to Lahoma. He served on the Town Board several terms, worked to bring a volunteer fire department to Lahoma and was a charter member of the Lahoma Lion’s Club. While he continued to build home in the area, Dale started Quickway Industries in Lahoma which was a truss plant and component homes. In 1984, Dale and his sons formed Pettus Construction, Inc. and they went into the asbestos abatement business. He did this until his retirement in in 1996. Dale was a wonderful husband, the best Dad, and was lovingly known as “Boompa” to his grandchildren. His laughter, booming voice, love for animals and imaginary kitty will be missed.
