Warren Oswalt

Warren (Bud) Galen Oswalt was born in Ramona, Kansas on February 17, 1921 to Silas and Elsie Oswalt. Warren passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home in Kremlin, Oklahoma. He grew up in Plains, Kansas graduating from high school in 1939. He attended Dodge City Jr. College and the University of Kansas. He married Mattie R. Minnis on September 12, 1948 in Bucklin, Kansas. He worked in Wichita, Kansas for Stearman & Boeing. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in Wichita, Kansas on August 15, 1942. Warren spent four years in the Army Air Force and served as a P-38 fighter pilot in the South Pacific. He did air combat in Borneo, Luzon, China Offensive and the Western Pacific. Warren was honorable discharged as a First Lieutenant on July 25, 1946. He was employed for 38 years for the Rock Island Railroad retiring May 30, 1986. He was a 32nd degree Mason.

Warren is survived by his wife, Mattie, of 64 years: three children and their spouses, Warren G. Oswalt, Jr. and wife Pam of Okeene, OK, Lark Schultz and husband Mike, of Hillsdale, OK, and Robert Joe Oswalt and wife, Rosa of Brooksville, Florida: eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Jennifer Oswalt.

Funeral service for Warren will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00am at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with burial to follow in the Hillsdale Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

The family has requested memorial donations be made to the Hillsdale Christian School or the Kremlin Fire Department with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving custodian of the funds.
