A come and go memorial to celebrate the life of Hazel O’Banion will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1818 East Chestnut, Enid, OK. The Reverend Jim Nance will officiate. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Hazel Viola Chapman O’Banion was born February 8, 1930 in Waukomis, Oklahoma to Glen and Ruby (Coen) Chapman, and passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 in Enid.
At age 6, the family moved to Enid, and Hazel graduated from Enid High School in 1948. She worked at McLellan’s Variety Store and several part time jobs. She married her high school sweetheart, Floyd W. O’Banion on November 25, 1950 in El Reno, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd W. O’Banion, three daughters, Cindy Waltman and husband Freddy, of Ames, Okla; Debbie Patton and husband Dale, of Enid; Sonya Worth and husband Tom, of Enid; five grandchildren, Rosie Layton and husband Rodney; Travis Patton and wife Katie; Kyle Patton and wife Liz, all of Enid; Jeff Worth and wife Amy of Midland, TX; Lee Waltman and wife Crystal of Harrah, OK; thirteen great-grandchildren; Emily, Austin, Hannah, Kalista, Teagan, Julia, Kimbree, Ayden, Strawdie, Kaleb, Trae, Zachary and Kaden.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Ruby Chapman, three sisters, Pearl, Myrtle, and Bertha, and an infant daughter, Rosetta.
